Lifetime and positions
The battery is designed to send a certain number of positions.
The battery life is given as an indication on the basis of 1 GSM position per day.
Increasing the frequency of sending positions will decrease the battery life.
Example: Asset Tracking XL, 6500 positions = 15 years at a rate of one GSM position/day.
The same beacon that would send 4 GPS positions per day + 1 hour of movement per day with alert and position triggering every 15 minutes during the movement = 1 year of battery life.
Reminder
The OBJECTS AND EQUIPMENT LOCATION service is optimized to locate goods once a day by GSM triangulation for several years.
It is not a real-time tracking service for goods that move frequently. In this case, the longevity of the battery will be strongly degraded.
It is not possible to evaluate the precise impact of the settings on the battery: many factors influence the life span: outdoor temperature, topography, GSM/GPS, frequency of ascents, number of activated sensors, mobility of the goods.....
Replacing the battery
ALERT / REPLACEMENT THRESHOLD: If you have set the low battery level alert, the alert will be triggered when the level waits 10%*. This gives you time to replace it (several months depending on the intensity of the settings made: alerts, number of daily positions...)
Replacement on Assets Protection M
You can replace the battery yourself. It is a type A-3.6V battery.
Open the beacon by pressing the clips on either side.
Unclip the red and black wires and replace the battery. Close the beacon's case. It is now operational again.
THEN CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE TO RESET THE BATTERY LEVEL ON THE WEB APPLICATION TO 100%.
Only our technical department is authorized to perform this operation.

Replacement on Assets Protection XL and Container
You should not replace the battery yourself. These beacons have a gasket that keeps them sealed. This one is replaced each time the beacon is opened. This is why this operation is carried out by our technical service.
Procedure: Contact customer service to arrange for a temporary loan of a beacon while we replace the battery.
